How it works

Bring your usual food.
We’ll guide every sip.

Just four simple steps, straight from the tasting mat in the box.

  1. 1

    Set

Set your meal on the table with a glass or cup (a wine glass is fine), and lay the tasting mat beside it.

  2. 2

    Taste

Taste all three, one at a time, with a bite of food between sips. Place each bottle on the circle you think fits.

  3. 3

    Reveal

Spin the Sake Compass to each job and see its taste profile. Match the symbol in the window to the one on your bottle.

  4. 4

    Keep

You met three taste profiles tonight. The Sake Compass holds eight. Keep it in the kitchen and let any dinner point you to its sake.

This is the actual mat from the box — go ahead, give it a flip.

The lineup

Three bottles, three different jobs

We picked three from far corners of the taste chart, so whatever is on your table tonight, one of them is built for it.

Taste chart showing where each bottle sits: Naraman in Classic, Narutotai in Fruity and Elegant, Yauemon in Cloudy

Grease-Cutter

Naraman Junmai
Classic

Naraman “Junmai”

Good with rich and oilyPizza · Fried Chicken · Fries

Rich, oily food needs a sake with backbone. This one cuts through the grease and holds its round, full body to the last bite, so nothing feels heavy.

After the reveal

Boil water. Turn off heat. Pour sake into a heat-resistant carafe and place in hot water for three minutes. Warm sake × oily food = even better!

Peacemaker

Yauemon Tsukiakari Nigori
Cloudy

Yauemon “Tsukiakari” Nigori

Good with fiery heatChili · Spicy Tuna Roll · Jalapeño

When the heat spikes, this is the peacemaker. Its creamy, gentle sweetness wraps the spice and cools the burn, so fiery food goes down easy.

After the reveal

Try it as an aperitif. Served ice-cold before the meal, it’s silky, round and easy to love.

Purist

Narutotai LED
Fruity & Elegant

Narutotai “LED”

Good with light and freshFresh Fruit · Brie · Garden Salad

Light, fresh food deserves a light, fresh pour. Delicate and aromatic, this one stays out of the way, adding a gentle lift without ever covering the food.

After the reveal

Between courses, pour a little to reset. A cool, aromatic sip clears the palate so the next dish tastes bright and new.

Bonus — Sake Compass

Never wonder what to pour again

Pizza night? Thai takeout? BBQ? Spin the compass and find the match. It stays in your kitchen long after the bottles are gone.

Grease-Cutter Classic

What Sake Flight fans are saying

Beyond Sushi is brand new, so these reviews come from our first flight, Sake Flight “The Original.”

  • Very cool! Got it for my husbands birthday and he loved it. Was neat trying different flavors and discovered we like sweet sake

  • Really thoughtful and professional packaging. [Even] though I’ve been drinking sake for years, I learned something new! The sake flight is a really nice range for beginners too, and makes an awesome gift!

FAQ

Before you order

Do I need to cook anything special?

No, any dinner works. A mix of rich, spicy and light dishes lets you test all three. For any job tonight’s meal doesn’t cover, use its description and food examples to make your best guess.

I did the first Sake Flight “The Original.” Is this different?

Completely. The Original teaches you what you like; Beyond Sushi teaches you how to use it, with everyday food.

Can I start here, without the first flight?

Yes. Each flight stands alone. If you want the broader taste profiles first, start with Sake Flight “The Original” ($89).

Do I need a special glass?

Just use a wine glass you already own. A tumbler or a small teacup works too. Nothing special required.

Can I enjoy it solo? How many people?

Yes, solo works well. Three 300 ml bottles pour about nine tasting glasses, which is comfortable for one to three people.

Is $99 worth it?

The same pours would cost $120+ at a restaurant. See the breakdown above. A tasting mat, the Sake Compass and shipping are all included.

I’m new to sake. Is this too advanced?

No. The tasting mat guides you step by step. If you want the broader taste profiles first, start with Sake Flight “The Original” ($89).

When will it ship and arrive?

Ships within two business days from California. Two to three days West Coast, five to seven days nationwide.
